Oct. 20th Meeting With Keith Elder - Soft Skills that can be learned from Forrest Gump

ABSTRACT:  In this talk we’ll take a break from the mind-melting technology deep-dives and focus on the other skills developers need commonly referred to as “Soft Skills”. We’ll use one of the greatest characters ever to grace the silver screen, Forrest Gump, as the back drop to this talk. There are many things we can learn from Forrest like how to communicate simpler to humans as well as great life lessons we often forget. After attending this session you’ll walk away with a set of tips, guidelines and principles such as how to better communicate with non-developers based on scientific study, the value of providing value, how to make those around you comfortable, and how to leverage techniques in conversation used by successful salesmen.
